Project Goodwill – 2001 Goodwill Games Brisbane
Project Goodwill was developed by the 2001 Goodwill Games Brisbane, supported by the Queensland State Government and managed by Community Solutions. The aim of the project was to develop and implement a high profile school and community project that provided the opportunity for approximately 50,000 of Queensland’s young people to be inspired by the excitement and positive role models associated with the 2001 Goodwill Games. Launched by Queensland’s Premier, Mr Peter Beattie, on 14 June 2001, this unique project created an unprecedented response from more than 650 Queensland primary, secondary and special schools that applied and received 50,000 tickets to attend the Goodwill Games.
Western Bulldogs AFL Football Club Community Camp –
Sunshine Coast (2003, 2004 and 2005)
Community Solutions Group Ltd formed a productive association with the Melbourne based Western Bulldogs AFL Football Club in the areas of training, education, employment, sports administration and game development. In 2003, Community Solutions Group Ltd coordinated the Sunshine Coast Community Camp in February 2003 and ‘Bulldogs Big Day Out’ to coincide with the April game in Brisbane against the Brisbane Lions.
Quincy Quek – Singapore Golf – Intensive 5-week Training Camp (2004)
Quincy Quek is one of the best young amateur golfers in Singapore. In November-December 2004, Quincy undertook a five-week intensive training camp on the Sunshine Coast managed by Community Solutions Group Ltd. Community Solutions coordinated all facets of Quincy’s training camp including coaching, access to the Coolum PGA Championships, gym and personal training schedules, specialised coaching on the Gold Coast, tutoring, homestay and provided access to numerous cultural and lifestyle experiences.
Sunshine Coast Schoolies Week (1997-2006)
The Sunshine Coast Schoolies Week celebration was a highly successful community strategy enjoying the support of youth, parents, schools, media, accommodation providers and businesses, as well as local and state government departments. It is exclusively for youth aged between 16 and 18 years of age and provides safe, high quality, drug and alcohol free entertainment on every night during the Schoolies Week celebrations. It is coordinated by the Sunshine Coast Schoolies Week Taskforce, an extensive transport service and security strategy, the Sunshine Coast Street Angels and a 24 hour Safety Net Service for young people requiring care and support.
International Drug Education in Schools Conference – Noosa, Queensland (2003)
This Conference was attended by delegates from throughout Australia and other countries including Austria, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Belgium, Canada and USA. The conference consisted of a two day program of international speakers and a three day skills development workshop for school teachers and administrators.
Wide Bay Events, Sport and Recreation Conference (2002 and 2003)
The 2002 and 2003 Wide Bay Sports and Events Management Conference was held in Maryborough’s state-of-the-art Brolga Theatre. As well as featuring valuable information for organisers of community festivals and events, the full day conference was an important professional development opportunity for sporting clubs, Councils, schools and students within the sports, leisure, recreation and event management sectors.
Alcohol Free Dance Parties – Sunshine Coast, Queensland (1997 – 2006)
In conjunction with the Wharf Tavern Mooloolaba, Community Solutions Group Ltd hosted 2-3 Alcohol-Free Dance Parties each year for 16-18 year olds. The aim of the Dance Parties was to allow students to access quality and safe entertainment in an alcohol and drug free environment and meet and interact with fellow students.
